HDFC Bank Parivartan's ECSS Programme for Postgraduate Students (Merit-cum-Need Based) 2024-25



HDFC Bank Parivartan's ECSS Programme 2024-25 is an initiative of HDFC Bank that aims to support meritorious and needy students belonging to underprivileged sections of society. This scholarship programme is meant for school students from Classes 1 to 12 and those pursuing diploma, ITI, polytechnic, UG, and PG (general and professional) programmes. Under the ECSS programme, students who are unable to bear the cost of education due to personal/family crises or any other financial problems and are at risk of dropping out are provided with monetary assistance of up to INR 75,000 for their studies.

HDFC Bank’s social initiative ‘Parivartan’ has been a catalyst in making a difference in the lives of people through its interventions in rural development, education, skill development and livelihood enhancement, healthcare & hygiene, and financial literacy.

Eligibility

  • The students must be pursuing postgraduate courses (general courses such as M.Com., M.A., etc., and professional courses such as M.Tech., M.B.A., etc.) in recognized colleges or universities in India.
  • The applicants must have passed the previous qualifying examination with at least 55% marks.
  • The annual family income must be less than or equal to INR 2.5 Lakh.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who have experienced personal or family crises that have occurred during the past three years due to which they are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out.
  • Open to Indian nationals only.

Benefits

  • For general postgraduate students: INR 35,000
  • For professional postgraduate students: INR 75,000

Documents Required

  • Passport-size photograph
  • Previous year's marksheets (2023-24)
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/Driving License)
  • Current year admission proof (Fee Receipt/Admission Letter/Institution ID Card/Bonafide Certificate) (2024-25)
  • Applicant's Bank Passbook/Cancelled Cheque (Information will also be captured in the application form)
  • Income Proof (any one of the following):
    • Income Proof issued by Gram Panchayat/Ward Counsellor/Sarpanch
    • Income Proof issued by SDM/DM/CO/Tehsildar
    • Affidavit
  • Proof of family/personal crisis (if applicable)

Important Dates

The applications for HDFC Bank Parivartan's ECSS Programme will open in three rounds/cycles. The deadlines for each cycle are as follows:

  • First Cycle Deadline: September 4, 2024
  • Second Cycle Deadline: October 30, 2024
  • Third Cycle Deadline: December 31, 2024

Selection Process

The selection process of HDFC Bank Parivartan’s ECSS Programme is a multi-stage process where students are selected based on merit, financial need, or personal/family crisis. Details of the selection process are mentioned below:

  1. Shortlisting of the candidates based on the eligibility criteria
  2. Document verification
  3. Personal interview of the shortlisted candidates after document verification
  4. Announcement of the final list of scholars

Additional Information

  • Applicants must submit proof of their current year's admission to apply for this scholarship. If you do not have the fee receipt, you can submit the admission letter/admission confirmation letter to be considered for this scholarship.
  • The Bank holds rights to change eligibility criteria at any point in time.

  • Is the scholarship available for students who took a gap year?
    Yes, you may apply for this scholarship provided you have proof of your current year of admission, ensuring the continuity of your education after the gap year.

  • What if I do not have 55% in my previous qualifying examination?
    Unfortunately, you need to score at least 55% marks in your qualifying examination to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • Is this scholarship available for multiple years?
    Yes, this scholarship is now available for multiple years for students pursuing Class 11 and above for their current educational level. It aims to provide ongoing academic support for our current scholars who continue to meet the eligibility criteria in the subsequent years.

  • What income proof is required?
    The applicants can upload any of the following documents as proof of income:

    • Income certificate issued by SDM/DM/Collector's Office/Tehsildar
    • Salary slip or letter from employer
    • ITR
    • Affidavit

Crisis Documentation

For different crisis cases, the following documents are required:

  • Death of earning family member: Death certificate
  • Job loss in the family: Letter from the organization stating that the person has lost the job
  • Self-employment failure: An affidavit from Notary stating your self-employment failure
  • Expenditure on medical treatment/critical illness: Medical report/prescription from the doctor stating the illness
  • Covid-19 affected: Covid-19 test report/any other document which proves that the person is affected by Covid-19
  • Natural disasters: Document issued by the government authorities stating that the person is affected by a natural disaster
